Healthy Boundaries & Individuality

Your discomfort with a boundary does not make it wrong. It also does not make it reasonable.

What to do instead

Say what you wanted and ask what your partner needs: 'I was looking forward to going out together. What would work for us?' Listen without turning disappointment into a verdict. If a shared responsibility is involved, discuss how it will be covered. Personal choices aren't the same as shared commitments; neither should erase the other. The aim is a workable agreement that makes room for both of you, not winning an argument about who has the better boundary.
