A better response starts here
The Decoder
Heard the words. Missed the meaning?
Choose a common phrase. Consider what might be behind it, what could make things worse, and a useful way to respond.
Do not turn a guess into a fact. The Decoder gives you a starting point. Your partner gets to explain what they mean.
This basic website edition runs in your browser. No personal story, account history, or AI request is needed. Your selections are not saved or sent by this tool. Ordinary website access logging still applies.

Take These Behaviors Seriously
Threats, coercion, and violence need more than a better phrase. You are not responsible for preventing another person’s harmful behavior by finding the perfect words.
Prioritize safety. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services when it is safe to do so. Seek support from someone qualified to help with the situation. Do not use a suggested response to confront someone when doing so could put you at risk.
Phrase decoding is paused while this concern is selected.

One useful next step
The same words can mean different things in different situations. Check your understanding rather than telling someone what they meant. These communication habits can apply to either partner.
A useful first step, not the whole app
This website edition offers a small selection from the Decoder project’s phrasebook. It does not analyze a personal situation, rate your reply, or generate a custom AI answer. The fuller app is being developed separately.
